Day 26 Santiago to Puerto Natales, Patagonia

Just when you think you are far south, you can travel another 5 hours south and still only be at a latitude opposite that of Edmonton!! A brief glimpse of Tierra del Fuego, and then we were off again!

A 5 hour flight to Punta Arenas, then a 3 hour bus ride north to Puerto Natales put us at the gateway to our trekking adventure!

The landscape was pretty beak at the beginning, however we did see lots of farms, with some familiar, and not so familiar animals.

The Andes became closer as we travelled north!

We got checked in to our “humble” hostel. Puerto Natales reminds me a lot of Yellowknife, only without the capital city influence!

We met with our guide, Omar at 6:30 and learned about our treks for the next 4-5 days. We’ll be staying in 2 different base camps with a permanent dining tent, hot showers, and supposedly, WiFi… we’ll see!

After our briefing, we headed out to do a little provisioning and then on to Supper. The restaurant was EXCELLENT!

On the way there we saw an amazing street artist…

While in the Restaurant we were treated to amazing views!

Well, we’re off to our next adventure. We’ve been told to be prepared for 4 seasons in one day!! We post when I can over the next few days!!
