After another late night last night we gave ourselves a chance to sleep in a little this morning. But we couldn’t linger long as we had a brunch to attend for one last celebration send off for Alan.

Petra, her mother Sigrid and her son hosted a wonderful brunch for 9 people, filled with specialties that we will remember for a long time!

We said our goodbyes to friends we will not see for a while, and welcomed other friends to join us on our trip to Normandy tomorrow.

After lunch Dan and I headed back to our apartment to do a final laundry and get packed up and prepared for our journey tomorrow. We will be driving about 645 km with an estimated travel time of 8 hours and 30 min including 5 recharging stops along the way. With any luck we will be in our B and B in time for unpacking before dinner. Alan, Brec and Sandy will be joining us on this leg of the trip, but will be staying in Caen, about 25 minutes from us. Our destination is Hermanville Sur Mer, very close to the British landing sites of Sword Beach.

Our plan is to visit D day landing sites, including Juno beach on the following day and then on to the Abbey at Mont-Saint-Michel for our final day of touring there. All in all it should be an extremely interesting time for us all on the coast of Normandy!

Well, I’d better get busy preparing for our long trip tomorrow. I look forward to telling you all about our cross “countries” (Germany, Belgium and France) journey tomorrow! Until then.
