We awoke early this morning to pack up and head out on our 650km journey across 3 countries to end up on the Normandy Coast. Alan, Brec and Sandy would be leaving a little later as they are driving’s gas powered car and we must stop for charging with our EV.

With our EV loaded and fully charged we set out at around 8:30 am. We headed towards Aachen and then on into Belgium via a quick touch in the Netherlands.

Taking an EV indeed costs us more time on long journeys. What it doesn’t cost us is a lot in fuel! As you can see, the total trip cost is a little over 69€. At 2.40€ per litre, a fill up would be about 90-110€ per fill up! Also, there are plenty of chargers along the way!

We stopped at our first charging Stn, and when we went to return to the highway our on ramp was closed for construction. We managed to reroute our trip planner and we were taken thru some interesting back country lanes and towns, ending up along the Meuse River. Quite lovely in spite of the delay.

We were soon back on the highway ( or series of them as we crossed Belgium into France. We passed the Somme region and saw the turn off for Lille, but we’ll wait for another day to explore that area.

I must say the charger stops have been plentiful, all high speed and all conveniently located in service centre like locations so we could take all the breaks we needed.

Yes, we eventually made it to Hermanville-Sur-Mer. Luckily found a place where we could plug in overnight and will be ready for our day of touring the beaches. Until Tomorrow!
